The National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges (NCJFCJ) designed a series of four webinars to provide an overview of the role of the judge in key aspects of child abuse and neglect hearings. The series will highlight four primary topics, discuss the role of the judge in leading on and off the bench, and note important considerations for cases with the youngest children. This fourth webinar will focus on the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA).

The Indian Child Welfare Act (1978) requires courts handling child abuse and neglect cases to follow specific standards to meet the needs of Native American children and families. This webinar will explore the importance of state and tribal collaboration in ensuring ICWA is followed by describing the role of the judge in improving outcomes for Indian children and their families, including the judicial leadership role on-the-bench in cases and in collaboration with tribes.

There is no registration fee for this program.
