Welcome to the Firearms Technical Assistance Project website! These pages are intended to serve as a repository of various resources for the FTAP sites including webinars, topical discussions, sample language for petitions and other forms, and relevant guidance on firearm surrender in domestic violence cases. The materials are organized in two ways: (1) by stages in the process – planning and preparing to do the work, working on improvements to your civil system response, working on improvements to your criminal system response, and/or exploring non-legal system opportunities; and (2) by category of resources – webinars, guidance documents, compilations of forms and other resources by type , and sets of firearms-related forms from specific jurisdictions.
We encourage you to click on the tabs across the home page, starting with About FTAP, to learn more about the project and the many resources that are available to help you with your community’s efforts to implement firearms restrictions in domestic violence cases. We hope these resources – along with consultation from our technical assistance providers – will provide you with opportunities to strengthen collaboration, to identify gaps and barriers in your community’s response to firearms in domestic violence cases, and to take action to address those challenges.
