This publication is an update to the Issues in Focus section of the Civil Protection Orders: A Guide for Improving Practice, also known as the CPO Guide. The National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges, in partnership with the Department of Justice Office on Violence Against Women and other subject matter experts, developed the CPO Guide as a tool designed to support the work of professionals dedicated to enhancing the effectiveness of the civil protection order process. The CPO Guide: Issues in Focus update to the CPO Guide focuses on the intersections of civil protection orders with firearms, military protective orders, and technology. The technology section of this publication is broken up into two parts: the system’s use of technology and respondent’s use of technological abuse.
