There are a lot of unknown facts about sexual assault, especially since most rape rape or sexual assault cases are not reported to authorities. In New Haven, detectives estimate that more than 80 percent of their cases involved minors.
In spite of the difficulties of these investigations, the Specials Victims Unit (S.V.U) continues to fight the hidden epidemic of sexual assault. Kathy Dobie reports on the current S.V.U. detectives for The New York Times Magazine.
