Judges have an important role in supporting the well-being of children in foster care — this includes educational well-being. This session will provide practical strategies in supporting individual students in the courtroom, as well as supporting systemic improvements through court leadership. Presenters will provide an overview of relevant federal law, share tools and resources, and discuss best practices from around the country. As a result of this webinar, participants will:
- Understand the need for supporting the educational stability and success of students in foster care.
- Understand the role of the court in supporting students in the courtroom, as well as demonstrating leadership to convene the child welfare, education, and court systems to increase system collaboration.
- Receive tools and resources to support their work, and learn about concrete strategies to support students and families.
