The 9th Annual Justice Innovation Awards ceremony will be held during the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges (NCJFCJ) 86th Annual Conference in Baltimore, Maryland at the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront Hotel. The conference dates are July 16-19, 2023.
The NCJFCJ will recognize honorees who innovatively rethink, reimagine and redefine justice for children and families in ways that advance the NCJFCJ’s vision for a society in which every family and child has access to fair, equal, effective, and timely justice.
The NCJFCJ Justice Innovation Awards will present the following two awards:
The Innovator of the Year Award
This award will honor an active NCJFCJ MEMBER in-good-standing who has inspired, sponsored, promoted, or led an innovation or accomplishment of national significance in juvenile justice, family law, child abuse, neglect, and/or domestic violence.
Nominate the Innovator of the Year

The Impact of the Year Award
This award recognizes an individual, state/local court, law firm, advocacy group, or service provider from the conference host state, Maryland, that has been instrumental in leading or implementing significant improvements or innovations advancing the NCJFCJ’s mission.
- Practice improvements implemented state or jurisdiction-wide
- State/local legislation or other regulatory improvements
- Unique state/local court programs or services
- Courtroom management and/or technology
- Extraordinary efforts in pro bono work

Current NCJFCJ Board Directors are not eligible for these awards. If you are nominating an elected or appointed official, the nominee may not be a candidate for election, re-election, or appointment during the cycle in which the award is given (i.e., May 2022-July 2023).
