This Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) Fact Sheet presents estimates of the number of cases transferred from juvenile court to criminal court through the judicial waiver mechanism between 1985 and 2010. The number of juvenile cases waived to criminal court peaked in 1994 at 13,100 cases, more than double the number of cases waived in 1985. In 2010, juvenile courts waived an estimated 6,000 delinquency cases, 55 percent fewer cases than in 1994.
